woah, buddy, it has been a while. i kind of forgot about this blog in favor of another. deep inside i'm ok with that. i like this spot, and i'll keep it up till somewhere into the summer, but the time is comming for me to scale down a bit and focus my internet presence.
anyway, i was talking with my sister the other day, and realized that i haven't really shared the beauty that is the döner with everyone very well. if you remember, i think i wrote about it in my update newsletter in january, but if not, here we go again.
döner is pretty much just the turning roasting hunk of meat they use for the base of a taco-esque creation. they shave off some meat, put it in a toasted flat bread, throw in some sauces, lettuce, cabbage, onions, tomatoes or any other combonation they do, and BOOM, you got yourself a meal.
i'd compare it in heft to a chipotle burrito, but it is of course a different thing altogether. usually going for about 3€ (with the exception of one shop that sells a döner for 1,70€, which usually raises a fundamental question of quality and price. . . how the heck is it so cheep and pretty good?), a döner is a great little fast-food option that you can get practically in any decent sized german city.
here are some pictures of a place i tried last night. it's not my favorite, by far, but it's close and i figured i'd give it a shot.

let it snow again
so not even a week after i talk about not getting the lame snow/rain/slush, what do i find falling from the sky? i guess things really do come around.
but then i was walking out of stammtisch last night when matthias told me that the next week or weekend is supposed to be really cold again, as in 0 degrees Fahrenheit. the only good thing about the cold is it turns the rain to snow. and as i woke up this morning to find the rooftops just a little bit whiter, i think the cold has come.
all this said, i really look forward to warmer weather. . .

let it snow
hey, i thought that was a christmas song.
well, it didn't start snowing here until the new year began, and it hasn't stopped yet. (that's not true. it stopped here or there, but i think you can gather what i mean).
the snow we've had a couple times this past week or so has been a bunch of big'uns, all clumped together as it comes down. we haven't had any of the strange snow weather, so that's made me happy, but i'd trade it for some warmth i guess. it was a bit milder for a week or so, but that only served to trick me into believing that spring is soon to come.
still i've kept my (cold) spirits up. these big snowflakes are great for catching on your tongue, but the looks you get. . .
ok, granted, one time i was really going for it, not just tongue out, but mouth open, legs moving, eyes scanning really working for my little quenchy flakes. that guy looked at me like i was mad, maybe duly so.
then there were the girls who may have seen me down the way because they were definitely talking about catching snowflakes as we crossed paths.
as beautiful as it looks, as good as it tastes, i look forward to putting on some shorts again.
, but for now it snows.

(what do you think about the rouge comma? i like him.)
